FX Africa Foreign Exchange holds the license to operate, as a brand franchise, of Travelex Retail Foreign Exchange in Southern Africa. Travelex is the world's largest retail foreign exchange network, with over 760 branches providing travellers with currency services at airport, sea and rail gateways, high street branches and key tourist areas.

FX Africa has grown from only 2 branches, in 2001, to over 48 around Southern Africa and continues its rapid expansion into the Southern African market, focussing on mainstream shopping centres, and large corporate accounts. FX Africa Foreign Exchange is licensed by the South African Reserve Bank to trade in foreign exchange products and services. These include:

  • The Visa Electron Cash Passport Card is a currency denominated prepaid currency card that provides a safer and more efficient way of taking spending money abroad.

  • The FX Direct Card is aimed at travellers coming to South Africa who want the convenience and safety of using a card instead of carrying cash. This pre-paid Mastercard is denominated in Rand and is PIN protected. The card can be used at all Mastercard enabled ATMs and merchants in South Africa.

  • Foreign currency

  • American Express traveller's cheques in all major currencies including US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars and Japanese Yen.
    Facilitation of the payment of foreign exchange allowances into an offshore bank account via telegraphic transfer.
