Maropeng
Placing Africa’s heritage on the world’s stage.
Maropeng, about 45 minutes from Johannesburg, is the official visitor centre of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. The Maropeng Visitor Centre is an exciting and extensive exhibition, focusing on the development of humans and our ancestors over the past few million years, with special reference to the Cradle of Humankind, where more hominid fossils have been found than at any other place on earth. Maropeng means “returning to the place of origin” in Setswana, the main indigenous language in this area. Discover the secrets of humanity’s ancestry through the exhibitions at Maropeng and its nearby sister site, the Sterkfontein Caves.

Cape Point
An iconic place of mystery, beauty, wilderness…
Cape Point is one of Southern Africa’s must-see places: it’s a narrow finger of green, fynbos covered land, jutting out into the ocean and sweeping dramatically down to the sea. One of the most southerly points in Africa, and part of the Cape Floral Region World Heritage Site and the Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point is managed by the Thebe Tourism Group, in conjunction with Concor and South African National Parks. Facilities include the Two Oceans Restaurant, the Flying Dutchman funicular and retail outlets.
