The Thebe Tourism Group has recently become 51% shareholders in Kamnandi Retail (Pty) Ltd, an independent business operating under the Accessorize name as a licensee of Monsoon International Limited.

Thebe Tourism Group and Compass Group South Africa celebrate over dinner

Two formal dinners were held during May to celebrate The Thebe Tourism Group’s purchase of a 25% BEE equity stake in the R1.5-billion catering and support services Compass Group South Africa.
To formalise the alliance between the two groups, a dinner was hosted in May at the eMakhosini Boutique Hotel and Conference Centre in Durban and the Table Bay hotel in Cape Town.
Lolo Ngubeni bids Thebe Tourism farewell

Following a two-year stint as General Manager Human Resources with the Thebe Tourism Group, Lolo Ngubeni leaves TTG to join the Liberty group in June.
“I bid Thebe Tourism Group a warm goodbye. I am thankful for the wonderful two years spent with the group. It has been a phase of both personal and professional growth. During my tenure I have also made lifelong links with individuals within TTG as well as in the mother company that will not come to end with my exit. I may be leaving now but Thebe will always be very close to my heart,” says Ngubeni

Cape Point goes orange!

In support of Netherlands making it to the finals of the Soccer World Cup, Cape Point went Dutch!
On the 11th of July the enthusiastic staff of the new Flying Dutchman Funicular donned bright orange shirts and even brighter smiles to welcome the Dutch supporters to Cape Point. For every ticket sold on the Flying Dutchman Funicular, visitors received an orange! The Dutch supporters loved the idea and the staff enjoyed the opportunity to interact with visitors in such a fun way.
Thousands of soccer supporters have experienced the new and improved Flying Dutchman Funicular over the World Cup period. Taking the funicular saved them the long climb to the top light house where they could enjoy the magnificent views.
The new, modern Flying Dutchman funicular opened to the public on the 8th June 2010. It now features a new body, safer braking technology and bigger windows that allow visitors a 360 degree view of plunging cliffs and white sandy beaches.

The international fashion sale joins forces with the Princess Project

Joburg’s much loved expo, the International Fashion Sale (IFS), has joined forces with ex Miss South Africa and Top Billing presenter Jo-Ann Strauss to further drive her charity, the Princess Project.
The project was founded by Jo-Ann in order to give under-privileged girl matriculants the opportunity to look fabulous at their matric farewell dance. Jo-Ann, who herself wore a second hand dress to her farewell says, “It just made sense to me. I had so many dresses in my wardrobe that I couldn’t wear again in the public eye and they were cluttering my wardrobe. I couldn’t think of a better way of putting them to good use than to give them to girls who would normally never get an opportunity to wear such amazing dresses for their matric farewell.”
The project welcomes all formal dresses from the public and many celebrities have joined the campaign like Michelle McLean, Louise Carver, and Uyanda Mbuli. Even international supermodel Naomi Campbell has pledged a dress after working with Jo-Ann in Barcelona for “Frock ‘n Roll”.
When the IFS heard of her project they immediately recognised the synergy between the two and set about forming the partnership. The IFS has been around for 14 years and hundreds of thousands of visitors have enjoyed filling their wardrobes with designer gear for next to nothing so to have the platform to get designer dresses on deserving girls for absolutely nothing was a great opportunity to give something back.
The IFS is happening at the Coca-Cola dome from the 29th July to 1st August between 10am and 10pm and there will be a stand dedicated to the collection of dresses.
