Endangered African penguins given a second chance
30 August 2010The Waterfront Boat Company regularly assists The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB), an internationally recognised leader in seabird rehabilitation, with the release of rehabilitated African Penguins and other seabirds along our coast. Mondays are release days and after a inspection by a registered vet, the penguins are transported to the V&A Waterfront and carefully loaded onto the Condor, the Waterfront Boat Company’s motorcruiser. The African Penguins are then released as close to Robben Island as possible with the aim of integrating them with the resident colony.

Cape Point Woman’s Day Competition Winner
30 August 2010A Woman’s Day competition was run by the Cape Point Partnership and the prize was a fun filled day at Cape Point for the winner and three of her friends. Erin Carstens was ecstatic when she was announced as the winner, on the 4th of August. Although Woman’s Day started a little gloomy with overcast skies, the wet and windy weather couldn’t dampen the excitement of Erin and her three friends, as the limousine made its way through the picturesque False Bay towns towards Cape Point.
Whale Watching with the Waterfront Boat Company
30 August 2010Whale watching season has kicked off! South Africa has to be one of the most incredible destinations in the world for whale watching. Every year, between June and November, these gentle giants migrate to our shores to mate and calve. The Waterfront Boat Company offers a 4 hour boat trip onboard the Condor, a 61ft Motor Cruiser with a large top deck, which makes it perfect for whale watching.
First Car Rental drives education
30 August 2010An important part of the First Car Rental social responsibility portfolio, Teachers Without Borders SA (TWBSA), a team of Hawaii-based volunteer teachers led, by Director Yunus Peer, a South African living and teaching in Hawaii, celebrated their 10th anniversary of workshops in South Africa in 2010. First Car Rental provided the vehicles for the team to travel to their various workshop sites in the Eastern CapeTeachers Without Borders supports teacher leaders worldwide, with professional development opportunities and tools that connect them with information and each other so that they may play a more vital role in their communities. They focus on teachers with initiative, who are passionate about their subjects and compassionate towards children.
