Thebe Tourism Inbound strengthens its Asian presence
1 September 2010Thebe Tourism Inbound (TTI) has recently formed a joint venture with a Hong Kong based outbound operator Breakaway Travel. The joint venture sees Breakaway Travel appointed General Sales Agent for TTI, as part of the groups refocused business strategy. The group has also employed a representative, Sophie Wong, based in Hong Kong.
This joint venture positions TTI’s Inbound operator UTc Asia strategically, as it reinforces its leadership position in the Chinese market, which it has serviced in the last 6 years through organised pre-sold tour groups as well as ad hoc group and FIT tours.
TTI takes a stand in combating child sexual exploitation in tourism
1 September 2010The Thebe Tourism Inbound recognises that the age of responsible tourism has arrived and to this end has recently signed the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism.
The Fight Child Exploitation in Tourism initiative launched in South Africa by Fair Trade in Tourism aims to combat and prevent commercial sexual exploitation of children in South Africa’s tourism and travel industry.
Thebe Tourism adds Accessorize to its portfolio
30 July 2010The Thebe Tourism Group has recently become 51% shareholders in Kamnandi Retail (Pty) Ltd, an independent business operating under the Accessorize name as a licensee of Monsoon International Limited. Kamnandi Retail (Pty) Ltd has three Accessorize branded stores, two of which are at OR Tambo International airport and one at Cape Town International airport.

Thebe Tourism Group and Compass Group South Africa celebrate over dinner
31 May 2010Two formal dinners were held during May to celebrate The Thebe Tourism Group’s purchase of a 25% BEE equity stake in the R1.5-billion catering and support services Compass Group South Africa.
To formalise the alliance between the two groups, a dinner was hosted in May at the eMakhosini Boutique Hotel and Conference Centre in Durban and the Table Bay hotel in Cape Town.
