Tourism minister announces accommodation survey

South African minister of tourism, Marthinus Van Schalkwyk, announced on February 22, 2010, that the Department of Tourism will conduct an independent survey to assess the prevalence of price hiking in the tourism industry.

The minister explained that inflating accommodation prices during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ would be detrimental to the industry’s sustainability after the event.
